Start: Christmas Common
Finish: Christmas Common
Length: 12.1 km / 7.5 miles
Weather: Overcast and chilly
This walk combines parts of two walks I have previously completed starting from Christmas Common.
I left my car near to Queen's Wood and walked back towards the fenced-off TV mast. From there I walked along the path that descends into Shortridge Wood.
Just before leaving the wood, I turned a sharp right and followed the Chiltern Way up a steepish path into Blackmoor Wood.
At the top I crossed a lane and followed a narrow footpath between two houses.
The path opened out into a fenced-off field. I walked down a slope and came to a broader track.
I turned left at this track and headed towards Fire Wood.
At the bottom of another slope in the woods there is a cross-roads, where you should turn left. But unfortunately I continued straight on, uphill, and only realised my mistake after walking across the field at the top, when I was close to Hollandridge Farm!
I passed this track on the left, close to Turville Park Farm.
After going past Turville Park Farm, the track took me through several fields.
This is looking back on the path I had just walked up.
Taken close to Hollandridge Lane where the views open up across the Stonor Estate.
I crossed over Hollandridge Lane and followed this path down towards Pishill.
I then turned right and followed the path towards College Wood.
The path in College Wood meanders uphill, before taking a left turn and descending again.
The lodge at Watlington Park, close to where I had parked the car.
