Marlow river walk
Start: Lidl car park
Finish: Lidl car park
Length: Not very long
Weather: Warm but cloudy.
On the way to Marlow, we recounted tales of two other walks that hadn't gone to plan along the Thames Path. One (ominously) from Marlow and the other from Windsor. Little did we know that we were about to add a third to our repertoire of dismal Thames walks.
We arrived to find a very busy town centre with nowhere to park. At the point where our plans for the day were about to dramatically change, we spotted a car park behind Lidl.
Having left a busy Marlow, we followed Pound Lane towards the river. Despite the dark clouds, it didn't rain on us.
The path between the river and fields.
When we reached the river path, we noticed lots of people swimming down the Thames, each had a float attached to them.
Bridge o' doom! Our route was meant to cross this condemned, not fit for purpose footbridge. At this point there was no other way to get across the river and follow the path! The only option was to head back, very disappointingly, to Marlow.
Bisham Abbey, The National Sports Centre, on the other side of the Thames.
All Saints Church at Bisham.
The last of the 700 floated swimmers, who were doing a charity swim from Henley to Marlow.... hence why Marlow was so busy.
