Symonds Yat walk
Start: Symonds Yat West
Finish: Symonds Yat West
Length: 10.62 km / 6.6 miles
Weather: Good weather for getting hot under the collar
Trying to follow the directions of a route written circa 1975, all in the name of nostalgia! Still none the Wye-ser how we went so wrong.
This No Through Road walk, let us down somewhat, and we strayed-off route in several places. For that reason I'm not sharing my trail route as I wouldn't want others to follow the incorrect route we did.
The calm waters at the start of the walk.
The uphill struggle that leads from Ferrie Lane into Lord's Wood.
The path in Lord's Wood, close to where we did a first bit of backtracking.
There are many paths in life, sometimes you just take the wrong one.
For me, the high point of the walk -- top of Seven Sisters Rock. Having failed to find King Arthur's Cave, this at least was something to take from the walk.
Seven Sisters Rock, looking towards The Biblins....prior to the slippery descent of madness, where the route map was ruthlessly jettisoned.
The Bridge Over The River Wye!
By now some were chronically fatigued and, understandably, clinging to their sense of humour by a tread.
Looking across the river to the The Saracen's Head Inn, Symonds Yat East. Above it is the house apparently used in the Netflix series 'Sex Education'.
Another, slightly worse picture of the Red House.
After that walk it was good to get in here.
