SW Coastal Path: Morwenstow to Bude
Start: Morwenstow
Finish: Bude
Length: 11.1 km/8 miles
Weather: Bright and breezy
Just left the car, walking across the fields to pick-up the SWCP.
Soon I passed the church at Morwenstow. From 1835 to 1874 the vicar of the parish was Robert Hawker, also a poet and antiquarian, who was regarded as being eccentric. He did the honourable thing and gave Christian burials to shipwrecked seamen washed up on the shores of the parish. He was often the first to reach the cliffs when there was a shipwreck.
The marker stone for Hawker's Hut. Built from driftwood on the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Hawker spent many hours there writing his poems and letters.
Possibly the smallest National Trust property!
Higher Sharpnose Point.

Walking alongside the cliffs, with Greenway Beach below.
Snack-stop at the top of Hippa Rock.
Looking across to the first steep climb of the walk, with Stanbury Beach below.
The footbridge that crosses Stanbury Stream.
Hush-hush! I took this picture even though I was being observed by someone on the other side of the fence. My cunning disguise as a 'hiker' did the the trick.
GCHQ’s mission; collecting the essential data that underpins GCHQ's operations. Or to put it another way: a UK Government satellite ground station and eavesdropping centre
Harscott High Cliff.
The dramatic Steeple Point, with Duckpool Beach below.
My lunchtime view, near to Stowe Cliffs.
Northcott Beach and the Beach House on top of the cliff.
I followed these 2 guys for the last mile or two of the walk. The younger guy, with the pink cap climbed over every kissing-gate that had to be walked through. I also saw them the following day in Crackington Haven.
