Weather: Misty and wet
This walk was adapted from the No Through Roads book, Walk 67, West Wycombe. I forgot to take pictures on this walk as I was too busy navigating and keeping morale up.
From the No Through Roads book. After all these years it is still great to refer to for walk inspiration.
We walked past the Hell Fire Caves, up the hill to a very misty and murky mausoleum. Built in 1765 on the site of an Iron Age Hill Fort, it houses urns containing the ashes of the Dashwood family.
Another misty view from near to St. Lawrence's Church.
Walking along the ridge path in Hearnton Wood.
We turned left off the main track and followed the waymarks to the edge of the wood.
On a good day the views across the valley are lovely from here, but today there were just the low clouds making it look dramatic.
The view across the valley.
Walking down from the previous view point.
The final descent to the village, across another very muddy field, having just got our boots clean.
