I had a spare afternoon, it was bright and sunny, but cold so I hopped on the train for a walk around Hampstead Heath.
The first pond I came too was completely frozen over. This is affectionately called Hampstead No.1 Pond.
The view from Parliament Hill to the City. The hill is 98 metres (322 ft) high. Legend states that this was the site from where Guy Fawkes planned to watch the destruction of Parliament in the Gunpowder Plot on 5 November 1605, which is about 10 km (6 miles) away.
Kenwood House (also known as the Iveagh Bequest) is a former stately home. The original house dates from the early 17th century when it was known as Caen Wood House. In 1754 it was bought by William Murray, 1st Earl of Mansfield. He commissioned Robert Adam to remodel it from 1764-1779.
Highgate Hill and Ali Pali off in the distance.
The Vale of Health is an enclave surrounded by Hampstead Heath.
