Turville, Fingest, Twigside circular walk
Start: Turville
Finish: Turville
Length: 7.22 km/ 4.48 miles
Weather: Sunny with clear blue skies
It was the weekend the clocks went back and Sunday was a bright, crisp autumnal day - perfect for a walk in the Chilterns. This follows part of the route used on other walks I have posted. At the end of it you can always pop into the Bull and Butcher for a refreshing drink and bite to eat!
The white windmill looked very picturesque set amongst the autumn colours and blue sky.
Looking back at the diagonal path leading out of Turville.
The path through the wood narrows as you get closer to the lane to Fingest.
It is worth popping into St Bartholomew, Church. It's unique twin-towers give the impression it is going to be a larger church but it is quite small and narrow once you are inside.
Chequers Lane leading out of Fingest. The barn in the picture is part of the Fingest Great Barn Opera at Manor Farm.
Not part of the route, but looking up to Hanger Wood.
Mill Hanging Wood.
The view to the left, but once again not part of this route.
We walked up this broad forest track to Twigside.
Twigside and the autumnal views beyond.
The walk heads down Ashfield Barn Road for a short distance. At this point it is worth taking a slight detour to visit St. Nicholas Church.
The views to Churchfield Wood.
Great Wood off in the distance to the right.
The last field to cross before arriving back in Turville.
