Cadmore End to Southend circular walk
Start: Cadmore End
Finish: Cadmore End
Length: 11.26 km / 7 miles
Weather: Sunny.
For various reasons, I had not been to the Chilterns since May! I thought I might be a bit late for the autumnal display of colour, but I was pleasantly surprised. I had another walk planned from the same starting point, but wandered off route (on purpose) and made this one up as I went along.
At the start of the walk, near to the church at Cadmore End.
Entering Hanger Wood.
Just about to leave Hanger Wood.
Looking up the valley.
The descent to Chequers Lane.
Looking back to Hanger Wood.
The walk down Turville Hill, having just passed the windmill. Churchfield Woods are in the background.
I always enjoy seeing St. Mary's Church, Turville, on my walks.
The windmill can just be seen as a white speck in the distance on Turville Hill.
The walk down to Dolesden Lane, which I crossed and then walked up to Turville Court.
Dolesden Lane is enclosed either side by high hedges and can be seen in the centre of the picture.
Looking back from the top of the hill near to Turville Court.
This picture was taken on the return route, in the woods just below Turville Hill, on my way to Fingest.
A steepish ascent from Fingest to Hanger Wood.
