SW Coastal Path: Harlyn Bay to Bedruthan Steps
Start: Harlyn Bay
Finish: Bedruthan Steps
Length: 16.25 km/10.1 miles
Weather: Hot and sunny
My first mistake was starting this walk from Harlyn Bay, and not Trevone Bay. Now I have an awkward 1.25 miles to make up at some point should I wish to complete the entire SWCP! That said, Harlyn Bay was in full glory -- like the other beaches on this walk, golden sands, turquoise-blue sea and not many people there.
Looking across Polventon or Mother Ivey's Bay to the Lifeboat Station. Near to where I had a nice chat with a lady and her dog. After hearing her Midlands accent I asked where she was from -- a town in Warwickshire I had not heard of.
Trevose Head Lighthouse was built by Trinity House in 1847 as a guide for vessels in the Bristol Channel, and is 27 metres high.
The lovely sands of Booby's and Constantine bay, which seem to merge into one. Dinas Head and The Bull (sea stack) can be seen in the background.
This is close to where I first 'bumped' into Jo. I stumbled across the swimming/rock pool at Treyarnon that brought back fond memories of a family holiday. I had totally forgotten about it's existence.
From the other side of the bay.
Lots of inlets and coves on the route towards Porthcothan.
Porthcothan and Will's Rock.
Another sandy cove near to Pentire Steps.
Beautiful Bedruthan Steps. Unfortunately there is currently no access to the beach which gave me the perfect excuse not to go down there, but instead go and have a cream tea!
