York City Walls circuit
Start: Micklegate Bar
Finish: Micklegate Bar
Length: 6.9 km/ 4.3 miles
Weather: Cloudy
We started at Micklegate Bar, which was a short walk from our well-heated and un-sound-proofed hotel.

We turned right and followed the walls in a clockwise direction.

Near to the station there was a lovely 'wild' flower display on the embankment.

Station Road, crossing the River Ouse.

The gate house on the bridge had been turned into a cafe!

The display shows the depth the original Roman wall would have been.

A fine view of the Minster from the Lord Mayor's Walk.

A narrow section of the wall by Monkgate.

The steps down to the street at Monk Bar.

A steep climb up to Clifford's Tower was rewarded by free entry thanks to our CSSC membership. Very impressive and well worth a visit.

Another 'Sophie' cafe, on the Skeldergate Bridge. Sophie clearly has a monopoly on the situation..

We climbed up back onto the wall from Bishopgate Street.

On the home-straight, heading back to Micklegate Bar.
