New Forest: Godshill to Sandy Balls walk
Start: Godshill Cricket Club
Finish: Sandy Balls
Length: - 8.2 km / 5.1 miles
Weather: Sunny with a cool wind
We spent Christmas in the New Forest and I was fortunate to have a sunny, but chilly day to do this brisk walk.
Godshill CC club house, changing rooms, lawn mower store.

Godshill cricket ground is set in a beautiful location. The wicket is well protected and the out-field grass kept short all year-round by the local horses.

The view from the boundary, heading to Must Thorns Bottom.

Walking through Pitts Woods Inclosure.

I walked up a hill out of the wooded Inclosure to a crossroads. This is looking right, but I headed straight on, up the hill.

At the top I turned right along the Hampton Ridge.

My one complaint about this walk -- I was forever walking into the low winter, blinding sun. Can't complain really though!

Still on the Hampton Ridge.

Near to Abbott's Well and Chilly Hill.

Blissford Hill.

Stream crossing just below Burnt Balls!

The footpath brought me out at the entrance to Sandy Balls.

We enjoyed a lovely Christmas at this lodge.
