Barbury Castle walk
Start: White Horse Hill car park
Finish: White Horse Hill car park
Length: - 7.4 km / 4.6 miles
Weather: Sunny!
After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, of Eggs Royale, I checked out and drove over to White Horse Hill.

After a short walk from the car park, Barbury Hill comes into view.

Barbury Castle lies within the Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. In the 6th century the site became part of the Saxon kingdom of Wessex, following the defeat of the Romano-British at the Battle of Beranburgh.

The castle has two deep defensive ditches and ramparts.
