Ibstone circular walk no.2
Start: Ibstone
Finish: Ibstone
Length: 11.64 km/ 7.25 miles
Weather: Bright, Autumnal day
I parked next to the junction in the road that forms a triangle of grass.
After a short walk along the lane I turned left and headed down a footpath, beside a fence.
At the bottom of the field I turned left and followed a track in the woods, towards Twigside Bottom.
The autumn colours got better the further I walked a long the path in Twigside Bottom.
I turned left out of Penley Woods, following a very faint path over a field and slightly uphill.
This was taken at the top of the field, looking back to Penley Woods.
At the top of the field, I followed the white arrow straight ahead into another wood.
After a short while I turned left at a junction and followed the white arrow down into Commmonhill Wood.
Rememberance Day memorial on Ibstone Common.
I followed the Chiltern Way footpath, steeply, down through the woods. This section of the walk was quite muddy and slippy.
When the Chiltern Way footpath emerged from the woods, the beautiful views of the Wormsley Estate opened up.
Lovely autumnal colours in Holloway Lane.
I took the path that goes up through a field, with Manor Farm at the top of the hill.
Beautiful views across the valley, but the clouds were getting darker all the time.
Ibstone Church, where I took shelter in the porch from the heavy rain and had my lunch. Unfortunately it didn't stop raining for the rest of the walk, so there are no more pictures.
